Type Locality and Naming

North-central Shandong. The Heishanguan Fm was named by the Team of phosphorites of the comprehensive brigade of the Bureau of Shandong Geology (1979). The type section is located in Heishanguan villege, North-eastwards 300 m, Wutu Town, Changle County, Shandong Province. Coordinate: E118º57´00´´; N36 º 39´00´´. Lowermost formation of Tumen Gr.

Synonym: （黑山关组)）


Lithology and Thickness

The Heishanguan Fm consists mainly of quartz sandstone, dark purple shale interbedded with limestone with microplants. It is 2-18 m thick.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

It is conformable onto the underlying Heishanguan Fm or unconformable onto the Taishan Complex.

Upper contact

It is conformably overlain by the Erqingshan Fm

Regional extent

North-central Shandong. It is developed in Cangshan County and Anqiu-Juxian County, Shandong province.
